It is important to know what to pack, to make sure that you can use your personal appliances safely while you are in Bahrain. And this includes the use of the travel adapter, which is a device that simply allows you to plug any electrical appliance into a foreign electrical plug socket. It is necessary to note that it does not convert the frequency or the voltage.
General information about the electricity in Bahrain:
- Bahrain operates on a 230V supply voltage and 50Hz.
- There is one associated plug type: the type G.
This plug type has three rectangular blades in a triangular pattern and has an incorporated fuse, this type is of a British origin. This plug socket only works with plug G.
Voltage and frequency:
In Bahrain, the standard voltage is 230 V and the standard frequency is 50 Hz, please take this in consideration, if the standard voltage in your country is in between 220V and 240V as in Australia, Europe and the United Kingdom you will use all of your electric appliances in Bahrain.
And if the standard voltage in your country is in the range of 100-120 volts which is common in the United State and Canada, you will need a voltage converter in Bahrain. But if the frequency in Bahrain (50 Hz) differs from the one in your home country, it is not useful to use your devices.
The power Plug and Sockets:
The plug adapters are the interfaces between the American flat-pronged plug and Bahrain’s two round-prong sockets. It permits you to plug your electrical device into the Bahrain wall socket, but they do not convert the electricity to the American 110 volts.
Please note that if your appliance is designed to run only on 110-120 volts, you are likely to see smoke, if not fire. So you will need a step-down voltage converter to safely step the voltage down from 220 to 110.
